No supermax contracts for Paul George, Gordon Hayward

But to be eligible for the DPVE, a player would need to have be named Defensive Player of the Year or to the All-NBA (first, second or third) teams in the previous season or in two of the last three seasons. But if George remains unknown of his decision and continues his career with the Pacers through next season, they risk him signing with an opposing team in free agency of 2018 - losing their best player for nothing in return and possibly triggering an extensive rebuild. However, the Pacers' biggest advantage in re-signing George (though they can still offer more money than other teams) is gone, and they're going to have consider his future a lot sooner than perhaps expected. The question now, it seems, is whether the Lakers will have the necessary patience and prudence on their end to make the most of their situation. As such, rumors have persisted that they will be interested in bringing on Indiana Pacers star Paul George in the near future. For Wall, that equates to a roughly four-year, $168 million deal he could sign this summer; Leonard could ink an approximately five-year, $217 million deal in the summer of 2018, according to The Vertical. The same goes for the Utah Jazz and Gordon Hayward, as Hayward did not make it this year and therefore will not be eligible for this major extension. George's future will be remain as one of the biggest storylines in the National Basketball Association until his name is signed on his next contract. At February's trade deadline, George's camp made that clear to teams around the league interest in acquiring him.

The rumor at the trade deadline was that the Nuggets reached out to IN about a George trade, and he flat-out told Denver he would not re-sign with them and not to bother trading for him. That pressure may even force IN to trade him rather than risk losing him for nothing.

Last season with the Pacers, George averaged 23.7 points per game to go along with 6.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game. He said he's working out with Laker icon Kobe Bryant this summer, as so many other players are. Hayward is now assured to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. We want successful teams year in and year out, and that has to do with Paul.

Similarly to Paul George, Hayward's inability to make an All-NBA team makes him likely to become an unrestricted free agent.
